Financial services to SHGs/Women’s groups for economic enterprises and Income generation program (IGP)

i. Revolving Fund Scheme – (RFS)

Janodaya had worked with women’s economic empowerment programme through SHG’s, since 2004, with 32 branches in Karnataka. Janodaya changed the modalities and strategies of its financial services from “Micro credit” to “Revolving Fund Scheme”, in which finance is made available to SHGs for a period of 3 to 5 years @ 1% of annual service charges which is paid to the animators for their services working with groups, assisting in their IGP (Income generation program) and small livelihood enterprises.

There are 150 numbers of SHGs benefiting out of this programme with budget available of Rs. 1.35 crores, operational in 4 areas – Bangalore North, Bangalore South, Hubli – Dharwad, Devanahalli and Koramangala. This budget is totally used by women members in SHGs for their livelihoods and economic development programs.

IGP – Street Vending




ii. Support to Street Vendors

Financial support provided to women, street and push cart vendors, to improve their livelihood initiatives for income generation activities.

Nutrition Programme




iii. Nutrition programme for Street Vendors children

Street vendors groups while in their business, leave their children in baby care centres, who are looked after by Janodaya staff and are provided nutrition for health care.

iv. Support to staff

Since NGO staffs do not get loans from banks, Janodaya has made provision for financial support through small loans to their staff, as and when required.
